Post Excellent Journals
Hi Alan and Jo

Thank you for taking the time to post your journals, as someone who is contemplating both the west highland way and the great glen walk (not together I hasten to add!) your insight has been both inspiring and informative. The journals make very good reading and have made me even more wary of ticks (Uggh!). Have you got any other walks planned at the moment?

Regards

Hi Kev

Unfortunately we have nothing planned at the moment, though would like to do the Pennine Way and the GR20 on Corsica at some point in the near future.
We're glad you enjoyed our journals - best of luck with your plans for a long distance walk.

Hi Alan
Have just checked the GR20 out..... looks a fantastic walk. Have you thought about the coast to coast in England St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay?
Which tent do you use and what sort of weight does it come in at? Are your sleeping bags lightweight as well?

Cheers

Kev

Hi Kev

Yes we thought about doing Wainwright's Coast to Coast, but eventually settled on doing the Southern Upland Way instead, mainly because the outdoor laws in Scotland allowed us to camp in the wild legally, without having to worry about asking the landlord for permission.
Our tent is a Hilleberg Nallo 3 which weighs 2.4kg and is an all season tent. If you're travelling alone you might want to consider getting a Bivouac to cut down on the weight such as the Hilleberg Acto which only weighs 1.5 kg.
We both use a down sleeping bag - Cumulus Mysterious Traveller 500 - which weighs 975g.
If you want to hear what other people are using you should check out the forums on http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/forum/forum.asp?sp=&v=8.

Hope this is of help

Thanks for very helpful information...... the forum looks like it will be a treasure trove of info. My son who is 18 has said he would love to try some of the walks as well, so looking forward to some quality time together.

Cheers

Kev
